An alternative to whole home ducted systems, the new Fujitsu General 3 and 4 Rooms Multi Systems are designed for homes where traditional ducted systems are impractical. It can connect up to four indoor units to a single outdoor unit. The system uses R32 refrigerant technology, which has a 67 per cent lower global warming potential (GWP) factor than commonly used R410A, without compromising performance. [1]

Heat pump / air conditioners are an effective way of providing a comfortable environment in your home during the hot and cold months. However, your heat pump / air conditioner requires regular maintenance to ensure it continues to heat and cool your home effectively. The same maintenance procedures apply if your home is fitted with a ducted heat pump / air conditioner. Watch our informative video and read our tips on maintaining your heat pump / air conditioner to keep it performing at its best.
Cleaning the air filter on your heat pump / air conditioning system is a simple job that prolongs the life of the unit. You can clean the system’s filter using one of the following methods.
The easiest way of cleaning your heat pump / air conditioning filter is with a vacuum cleaner. Remove the filter from the unit and vacuum any lint or dust from the filter before reinstalling it. This method is ideal if the filter is only lightly dirty or when time and space are limited.
For a more intense clean, remove the filter and wash it with warm water and a mild detergent. This will clear any heavier dirt from the filter and ensure your heat pump / air conditioning system continues to perform effectively.
For a ducted air conditioner, the filter can be easily removed by undoing the hinged return air grille frame and sliding out the filter. Wash with warm, soapy water and allow to air dry before replacing the filter and repositioning the grille.
While cleaning the filter is an effective first step in heat pump maintenance, your system will require more intense servicing from time to time.
Professional heat pump services are recommended every one to two years, depending on how often your heat pump / air conditioner is used, the climate of your area and the condition of the unit.
A combination of regular professional servicing and DIY maintenance will ensure your heat pump / air conditioner continues to function efficiently throughout harsh weather conditions. Contact Fujitsu today to organise a heat pump service to be carried out by a licensed technician.
Ensure that the ducts in your heat pump / air conditioning system are sealed and insulated. Leaking ducts can cause energy losses, which in turn reduces the efficiency of your heat pump / air conditioning unit.
In winter, it is important to ensure that the outdoor unit is not surrounded by excessive levels of ice or snow. If ice or snow do build up around your heat pump / air conditioning outdoor unit, gently remove them to prevent blockages and inefficient operation.
While basic maintenance can be performed by homeowners, it is important that major services and repairs be carried out by licensed technicians. Incorrect repairs can lead to larger issues in the future and void the warranty on your heat pump / air conditioner.
